No “sex on the beach” in Dubai…
A British businesswoman is facing six years in an Arab jail after apparently being caught having drunken sex on a beach in Dubai.

Michelle Palmer, 30, was allegedly found in a compromising position on Jumeirah beach with a British holidaymaker, named only as Vince, whom she had met that morning at a champagne brunch with her work colleagues. A police officer apparently spotted the couple having sex on the beach and cautioned them, only to return later to find they had ignored his warning.

If you are traveling to the middle east, your “sex on the beach” should stick to the liquid form and not the physical act.

Allspice, also called Jamaica pepper, Myrtle pepper, pimento, or newspice, is a spice which is the dried unripe fruit of the Pimenta dioica plant. The name “allspice” was coined by the English, who thought it combined the flavour of several spices, such as cloves, pepper, and even cinnamon and nutmeg.

Christopher Columbus discovered allspice in the Caribbean. Although he was seeking pepper, he had never actually seen real pepper and he thought allspice was it. He brought it back to Spain, where it got the name “pimienta,” which is Spanish for pepper. Its Anglicized name, pimento, is occasionally used in the spice trade today. Before World War II, allspice was more widely used than it is nowadays. During the war, many trees producing allspice were cut, and production never fully recovered. Folklore suggests that allspice provides relief for digestive problems. It is still almost exclusively grown in Jamaica, although some other Central American countries produce it in small amounts.

The Pina Colada Song – true one of the worst songs of all time. Hopefully, this song won’t get stuck in your head.

I was tired of my lady, we’d been together too long.
Like a worn-out recording, of a favorite song.
So while she lay there sleeping, I read the paper in bed.
And in the personals column, there was this letter I read:

If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you’re not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
I’m the lady you’ve looked for, write to me, and escape.

I didn’t think about my lady, I know that sounds kind of mean.
But me and my old lady, had fallen into the same old dull routine.
So I wrote to the paper, took out a personal ad.
And though I’m nobody’s poet, I thought it wasn’t half-bad.

Yes, I like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
I’m not much into health food, I am into champagne.
I’ve got to meet you by tomorrow noon, and cut through all this red tape.
At a bar called O’Malley’s, where we’ll plan our escape.

So I waited with high hopes, then she walked in the place.
I knew her smile in an instant, I knew the curve of her face.
It was my own lovely lady, and she said, Oh, it’s you.
And we laughed for a moment, and I said, I never knew..

That you liked Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
And the feel of the ocean, and the taste of champagne.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You’re the love that I’ve looked for, come with me, and escape.

If you like Pina Coladas, and getting caught in the rain.
If you’re not into yoga, if you have half-a-brain.
If you like making love at midnight, in the dunes of the cape.
You’re the love that I’ve looked for, come with me, and escape.

The words salty dog have been used for everything from an old sailor to countless restaurants and an obscure metal band.

In the U.S. Marines and Navy, one who is a salty dog is one who is very experienced, having traveled much and seen more than his fair share of things, used more in the lower enlisted ranks to establish some kind of credibility regardless of rank.

“Salty dog” also means ornery, as in the T-Bone Walker tune “Ain’t Salty No More.” In US folklore and song, salty dog has an older sexual meaning. For example, in the traditional song “Salty Dog Blues”, the lyric “Honey, let me be your salty dog” translates to “Let me be your sexual partner.” The term comes from the term sea dog, or a horny sailor.

The best Salty Dog is a Salty Dog mixed drink. It was more popular in the 70′s but is still a good change of pass drink.

Amaretto Sour is made with Amaretto (duh). Amaretto is made from Almonds.

Fun facts about Almonds…
The most popular “almond” candy bar is Almond Joy. Throughout history, almonds have maintained religious, ethnic and social significance. Almonds are known for their health benefits. The Bible’s book of Numbers tells of Aaron’s rod that blossomed and bore almonds. Explorers consumed almonds while traveling the “Silk Road” between Asia and the Mediterranean. During Roman times, almonds were considered a fertility charm, and newlyweds would be showered with almonds during weddings.
The almond tree was brought to California from Spain in the mid-1700′s by the Franciscan Padres.
By the 1870′s, research and cross-breeding had developed several of today’s prominent almond varieties. By the turn of the 20th century, the almond industry was firmly established in the Sacramento and San Joaquin areas of California’s great Central Valley.
In the past 20 years, California’s almond yield has doubled. More than a half million acres in the lush San Joaquin and Sacramento valleys are under almond cultivation, stretching 400 miles between Bakersfield and Red Bluff, California.
California is the only place in North America that grows almonds commercially.
Next time you have an Amaretto Sour, remember all of the California Almond growers and what they do to help you have this great drink.

Invented in 1944 by Victor “Trader Vic” Bergeron, when he mixed Jamaican rum, juice from a frsh lime, a few dashes of orange curaco syrup, some french orgeat, and rock candy syrup. As recounted by Trader Vic history, it was served to some friends from Tahiti, who promptly proclaimed “Mai Tai, Roa Ae!”, which in Tahitian means “Out of this world, the best!”.

Mr. Bergeron was so put out by all of the various lounges that claimed to be the birthplace of the Mai Tai, that he contacted the friends he originally made his concoction for, and had them sign an affidavit attesting to it origins.

More often then not, when you order this cocktail it will also include Pineapple, Orange Juice, and who knows what other fruity additives in an attempt to increase the tropical flair of this drink.

This drink can be made a hundred different ways. Find one you like and enjoy.

One interesting fact about chocolate in England was that the Quakers participated in this business very heavily. One reason was that the Quakers hoped to persuade the poor to give up drinking alcohol in favor of the healthier chocolate drink. This involvement of the Quakers in chocolate continued with their emigration to Colonial America, primarily to Pennsylvania. It was one of the descendants of those colonial Pennsylvania Quakers, Milton Hershey, who was later to become perhaps the most important name in the chocolate industry.

Thanks to Captain Billy Bones in the book, Treasure Island, the alcoholic beverage most associated with pirates is rum. Rum is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented molasses.
