The Little House on the Prairie, written by Laura Ingalls Wilder and published in 1935. The actual Little House on the Prairie is located southwest of Independence, Kansas. There was a small log cabin that was rebuilt by volunteers based on the description found in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s book. All the references to surrounding terrain are within a short distance from the reconstructed cabin. Whether it’s really the true log cabin site remains to be proven but the state of Kansas has declared the location of the rebuilt cabin as the official site.

The Little House on the Prairie tv show ran for 9 seasons. The show spanned from the 1970’s into the early 1980’s. In one episode there was an actual prairie fire that burned down the barn. I bet Charles Ingalls would have rather of had a Prairie Fire Shot (Shooter) than have to rebuild the barn.
